We turned our attention to our not-so-little red dot this month as we celebrated Singapore’s 52nd birthday on the 9th of August, and brought the highly anticipated Beats, BBQ, and Booze back to Camp Kilo for the second month in a row for a massive midweek backyard cookout.

This time, we partnered up with our friends from Artichoke to serve up a selection of locally-inspired dishes and gave everyone who came by a gastronomic treat.

To start off, we transformed our restaurant to suit the day’s celebration by dressing it up with party flags in Singapore’s national colours and motifs. After all, what’s a party without a little decoration?

Guests came dressed in red and white, and reminisced the good ol’ days with traditional games such as glider planes, paper balls, and chapteh. We were all brought right back to our childhood while the younger ones learnt about the entertainment that their parents grew up with.

Of course, no party at Camp Kilo is complete without a hearty feast of all your favourites to dig into. With an exceptional line up of food by Artichoke made with a local twist, campers were indeed in for a mouth-watering experience. Think Tulang Tatertots (tatertots, bone marrow , and slow roasted lamb), Prata Burrata (Artichoke’s signature feta-burrata, curried tomato salad, roti prata), and more.

Our National Day special drinks menu also featured influences from Singapore’s culture with Spice & Herbs, Kaya Toast, and Bubble Tea being some of the items that were available, specially curated by Kilo’s very own bartender, Cheryl.

It was quality vibes all around with beats by Sivanesh, Daryl C, Brendon P. and Ulysses to get us all up on our feet We had a special afternoon with everyone who has made a home in our humble nation as we danced the day away in the company of the ones who matter most. A big thank you to all who came by and had a fun-filled day with us; view more of the day’s happenings at our Facebook album here, and we’ll see you at the next one!
